Lt 155 John Deere mower.

Hi. I am trying to help my daughter and S.I.law with replacing their mower. They have had a John Deere 65 series that I bought used. I completely rebuilt for them and it ran and served well for the last 14 years. last week it did it's swan song with a badly scored cylinder and piston because the air filter disintegrated and some dirt and trash got into the cylinder. Think deep, deep, more than .030 oversize piston would clear up.It would require a sleeve or a special made to order piston and rings. Parts for this mower are getting scarce and it is only a 28" cut. it did OK for the first small yard they had, but now it is too small since they have a larger house and yard.

I have come across a decent looking LT 155 mower. Not sure of the year yet. I have only looked at pictures so far, but would consider looking closer at it if you people can tell me more about it. It is priced at $550.00 with no bagger.

Their lawn is fairly smooth and only has a slight 2-3% grade to it. I think from looking at the photos it is a hydrostatic. So what are the good, the bad and the ugly reviews of this mower. What to look out for and avoid. It does not show any major dents or banged up parts and the hood seems to be not broken as is on my L X 172. The hood of JD mowers is a costly joke. Most of them around here are broken and not replaced due to the price of them. Thanks for the advice.
