The original subject was "Cub Cadet LTX1050 Fire.".

I realize this post is now a year old, but on Saturday May 14th, the exact same thing that happened to hotrodpapa happened to us. It is right at 2 years old and had approximately 116 hours on it. My wife was mowing and I was on our tractor doing some dirt work across from the creek where this mower is sitting in the picture. She got my attention by waving her arms and I saw smoke coming from under the hood. She said it will not shut off, she was off of the lawnmower, so I told her to take the key out. It was still running. I got off my tractor and ran up there and removed the spark plug wires. It still was running. Then I notice at the very front of the motor there was a fire, apparently this is what was keeping the motor running. We started digging into the dirt and throwing dirt on it, no luck, she ran to the house as I kept throwing dirt on it to get some water. We poured two gallons on it. No luck, by this time it was melting the plastic, so I made the decision to push it to the creek. (closest water source) We kept trying to put the fire out with water and then the fuel line ruptured which apparently runs straight above where the fire was. It then flamed up and at this point we had to call it a loss before someone got hurt. I only ended up with a burnt thumb, but it could have been worse. I have not called for warranty yet and don't expect to get anywhere with it anyway, but will try. hotrodpapa, did you have any success and if so, how did you do it? I texted my brother the picture and he said that his father-in-law had the same mower and the same thing happened to him. I am going to do a lot of research online, but have already seen multiple posts with this happening to other people. This is obviously a design flaw and one that should be rectified by Cub Cadet or suffer a class action lawsuit. I have videos of the fire that I will be posting somewhere, since its so large, I don't think it will post here.

Thanks Lance. Mine was a Kohler engine and a 2014 Model so I don't think these apply, but you did give me an idea about searching for recalls on my particular year model. Thanks again!
