Ford LGT 165 Parts Source

Guys, I'm needing a source for parts to get deck parts (all the pulley's and tension spring for the tension pulley)for a LGT 165 I had just got running. Also would like a 3 point hitch assembly. Thanks

It has been several years since I repaired my deck. However, I purchased the main drive pulleys and tension spring from my local New Holland dealer. The idler pulleys are available various places, TSC and Rural King typically stock a selection. I purchased mine at TSC. I also replaced all the bearings - purchased from a local bearing supply house.

I have 3 complete decks except for the belt covers, grass shutes and scalp rollers, not sure what condition the blades or bearings might be in though. Personally I prefer the finished cut of the 42" decks so the 48s have never been tested by me. I buy/repair/sell alot of garden tractors but I have an openside LGT for myself so I collect every LGT I see but dont often sell them.

If you can find at least some of the parts locally that would likely be cheaper but anything you cant find I should have. Ive sent many small packages to the states via snail mail and the shipping costs are not bad.

Have a Ford 165 with deck and tiller for parts Has no motor. Would like to sell as whole.
I thought deck was a 52". Same deck that was used on the White 145 T & C.

I could be wrong but I thought if you measure tip to tip they actually had a 48" cut. Just looked on tractordata.com and they show a 42" and a 50". At any rate Ive had 6 or 7 LGTs and only ever seen two decks.

i find alot of dead K321 and K341 engines in old tractors, especially closed sided models, I think they maybe run a little hot especially if not well maintained and kept clean.

My LGT 16.5 has the 50-Inch deck however, I have never actually measured the cut width. For reference my deck manual lists the 50-Inch deck as P/N 09JC9838. The same manual covers the 42-Inch deck listed as P/N 09JC9835

Thanks Lance. My LGT is a open side unit. Like the looks of it more so than the later models. I'll keep you in mind. I located a guy here locally who has some other decks that he thought he would be able to match the parts. We'll see what he comes up with.

(quoted from post at 21:27:49 05/05/16) Found out today myself that there is a 48" and a 50" deck and my model number matches the 48" 09JC9835.

Allen, I don't know about the 42" or 48" decks since I only have the 50" version, P/N 09JC9838 per the Ford deck operator's manual. I measured across the blades on mine this morning, blade tip to blade tip measures 50". The P/N 09JC9835 is for the 42" per my deck manual - the foreward inside the manual also states, "Your tractor is now equipped with a rugged and reliable 42" or 50" rotary mower....".

If indeed you have found a 48" with the stated P/N then the manual would be in error....perhaps there is a typo in your post above.

Question: does your deck have three blades? and what does it measure blade tip to blade tip?

I wouldnt expect there was both a 48" and a 50", Ive had several of these tractors go through the shop, open and closed sided, and Ive only seen the two decks, Ive always referred to them as 42" and 48" but maybe the later is actually 50". I can check this weekend for model #s on the ones I have... I think there is 2 smaller decks and 3 or 4 of the large decks. Most have come with opensided tractors but I also have a closedsided 165 with the large deck right now.

A true 3 point hitch might be hard to find, most LGT tractors Ive found around here include a tiller which had its own specific type of sleeve hitch. I know a 3pt was an option but Ive never come across one, they may have been more popular in other areas though, I only know of one off hand and the owner is in Ontario... and he wont sell.

I agree that it almost impossible to locate a lot of the Jacobsen Ford Deck parts, The idler pulley Jac154796 is also sold thru Stens #280-325 $20.56, I had found them also at some John Deere Dealers in the 90's that would work, should be 4 5/8 inch Dia? Ford New Holland shows the spring I think (8 inch) Jac351482, for 50 inch Deck. Ford/Jac Decks were built 1974-1983,at the time I remember a price of around $750, so the comments that they are cheap and around, don't fly. I have both the 42 and 50 inch mower rebuilt decks, they are heavy Iron! Contact me if you need some used parts, I may have-- Rebob#1

Just to clarify... the rock shaft and tiller sleeve hitch mount is not a "3 point hitch"... however there was a proper 3 point hitch available for the LGT series tractors. It had a differant style upper rock shaft with two upper lift arms with two control links which lift the two individual lower arms to which you can attach a plough or cultivator or rear box blade. Plus a center control link.

The tiller setup is very common but its specifically designed for the tiller and does not work with other attachments, although you can easily modify the lower swingarm to create a nice trailer hitch.

The 3pt hitch is a little harder to come by... if you have one that is complete and that you dont use I would be interested in buying it.

Here's a dropbox link to a pic showing the parts included for a 3pt hitch...

Like I said its a 3pt hitch for the LGT 165 if it'd been a sleeve hitch or tiller hitch I'd of said that's what it was.You can email me by hitting the 'email' button.

Well someone emailed me earlier saying they had a 3 pt but from their description I dont believe it is... thats why I reposted explaining the differance...

I also added a couple comparison pics and put them all in a folder so my earlier link no longer works and editing is disabled right now.... but the pics are now available here.....
