Case 446

Rained all day today so I got a chance to work on the fuel system of the Onan. I completely drained all the fuel out, removed the gas tank, cleaned it out good and replaced the gas line as suggested here. Felt like it had a couple of soft spots in it. Took the fuel pump apart and got the flakes out of that. My grandson had a new carb to intake manifold gasket I used because the original didn't make it through disassembly. He just put a new carb on his father's JD 318 last week and had an extra gasket. My carb had a lot of flakes in it so I soaked it in some Stoddard solvent, blew it out good and reassembled it. I put it all back together, those shields are like a puzzle to me but after trial and error I got them back on. I gassed it up, squirted some gas in the carb and it fired right up and ran real good. Drove it around outside in the rain and put it back in the garage til I get another chance to work on it, looks like a rainy Wednesday coming up. I've got to adjust the idle on it and get the hood back on. Next job is to rejuvenate the mower deck and put that on.
QUESTION, is the little cast piece on the brake cross shaft the same on a 446 as it is on a 222? It's the one under your right foot thats held on the shaft with a roll pin with a rod attached to it that goes back to the brake mechanism.

Dave.... The best way to answer that question is for you to write down the PIN of your 446, then go to the Tech Library on Hydriv dot ca and locate the correct Parts Manual. That will give you the CASE Part # for that item. Then, if you know of a donor tractor, regardless of the model or year.... get the PIN for that one and go to the Tech Library to check the CASE Part #. That is the only way to cross-reference parts. CASE constantly made changes to these tractors over the years even though the model numbers stayed the same
