My LX266 mower won't idle down like it should. I have cleaned the air filters and the throttle and governor linkage and it looks like everything if loose and free. Without the blade engaged it runs wide open, with the load of the blade running it will slow down to Normal speed otherwise no difference when I move the throttle. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have not been in the carb yet, but that may be my next step.

Thank you, Tommy

Do you know where the throttle shaft is in the carburetor? If you do, look on it, there will be a screw that stops its rotation in one direction. Try backing that screw out a turn or 2.

This problem started a couple weeks ago.after checking further, the throttle shaft has a lot of loose play in it. I don't have it off until I get caught up cutting grass. May be wore out or maybe a plastic bushing has broke and dropped out. I would like to find a exploded view of the carb an look at it.I think it has so much loose play the governor arm can't control it. Thanks for your help. I will try to post back when I get it figured out. Tommy
