wasn't the fuel solenoid but very close to it. Solenoid worked fine so took the bowl off. Lot of yellow crud inside. Looked at the bottom of the post that the float surrounds. A tiny hole there comes out at right angle to that post. Hole was caked up solid with the yellow stuff. Ran a tiny wire thru it until the hole was cleared & cleaned the bowl. Runs great now. Local Co-op small engine guy said it would be in the carb if the solenoid was ok. Cure was quick & simple but I had to tear the machine almost completely apart to get to it! Lot of time wasted doing all that; they certainly didn't have the consumer in mind when they built it, tho that's nothing new.

The yellow was from dried fuel and additives. It would help to put a manual fuel shut off in fuel line and shut fuel off and run engine dry. It would hurt to run Briggs & Stratton fuel stabilizer.

Glad you finally got it. Use Hi-Test from now on and a splash of Star-Tron. The enzimes in that stuff have fixed a lot of messed up carbs on small engines. Regular gas is nothing but crap anymore.
