M F 10 Vari speed adjust

I am trying to get my vari speed adjusted properly on my MF 10..The adjustment rod under the dash behind the little plate seems to be the culprit.. Manual states With tractor out of gear and vari speed lever in five turn nut at end of rod clockwise till a bit of slackkNow backout ccw until no slack then out one full turn. After doing this there seems to be so much pressure to pull the vari speed back to park that it bends the bolt that is used as a pin for the arm to rotate on..This is bolt that comes out from inside to outside of tractor for a pin ..I feel I have my belts adjusted via the book and they should be ok..Any advice appreciated..Just can not put this ol girl to rest..Harry PS After the rod adjustment I notice there is only a few threads left on the rod it is almost completely turned out of the adjusting nut..Thanks in advance...Harry

Don't know anything about a massy but I was working on my old 110 John Deere variator a couple days ago. I only use it a few hours a year and the center sheave sticks. I take the belts off and shoot a couple a puffs of graphite on each side of the sheave and then it spins like a top. On the JD I place the lever in the fifth slot back, loosen a bolt through the side, take the plug wire off and crank it until the clutch pedal stops coming up and tighten the bolt. I can't move the variator handle unless the tractors running. Don't know if yours needs to be running or not.
