John Deere STX 46

Hi guys,

I have a STX 46 and was wondering if anyone knew how to, and how difficult, remove the electronic PTO clutch for the blades? Is it really as simple as getting bolt off the bottom and sliding it all down or does this require some major engine disassembly? Any help at all would really be helpful.

Thanks

It's been a few years since I had to replace the deck belt on my STX 30, but if memory serves I had to raise the front off the ground a foot or so. Then had to remove the clutch bolts and remove the steering arms, some guards, and use an impact gun to remove the center bolt from the clutch where it is attached to the crankshaft. Not hard, but take your time. make sure when you take the wiring connector off the clutch that you tie it out of the way so as not to mess it up while working on removal of the clutch.

Good news is I don't think it is the clutch because I unplugged the wires from it and then pulled out the PTO switch to turn them on and it still died on me. So I guess i'm back to an electrical problem and those are the worst kind of problems for me. Much more a mechanical man....
