Hello,
I recently inherited a very nice Ford YT16H (9800687) lawn tractor. I want to perform a maintenence overhaul on the machine and have some questions on fluid specifications.
I believe the hydrostatic transaxle is an eaton 850 if I am correct. I found out that the fluid and filter has never been changed. The owners manual calls to use a detergent SAE 20 oil. This seems to be very hard to find. Called a few new holland dealers and all gave me a different motor oil recommendations. I called Eaton and they told me all of their transaxle left the factory with hydraulic fluid.
What would you guys recommend using? Also, if I do change it, is there a chance of removing sediment that could possibly be holding it together like what can occur on some car auto trans that have never had fluid changes?
