Kohler k341 compression release.

Well, the compression release is worn out on this K341 on a Wheel Horse. Only .010 lift and it should be at least .030.
Checked this morning, a new one is $214.

So Here's my question:

Has anyone ever tried welding up and re-grinding the tab to get the lift back? Did it work or did it break off?

you could ignore the compression release and set up a stall petcock like one might use for a vacuum line on a milking system. I have done it on a 321 and it worked great for years.

take a look at what was used on early JD tractors like the A. Should be a simple fix, although not automatic

I should have added that I am fixing this tractor for an old widow lady. I need to keep it working pretty much like it was, if I can.

Have you checked e bay there are a couple of used cams listed less than $50.00

GB in MN

What is the engine serial number. As I am sure you you know the tabs on the older ones can be bent to correct ACR lift and the newer ones can't.

Since this is a FREE site it costs no more to post all the info you have vs. keeping us guessing why not post all the details?!

I have a few good used in stock but really dont wish to let them go because I too fix engines for people in need. In my opinion this is one of those things that falls under the realm of why risk it when you consider the consequences of failure? Good used is not only easily found but cheap? Last time I looked there was a dozen K cams on Ebay, most of which had compression releases and 4-5 of them were under $30 buy it now. Ask the seller to send a pic of the comp release before you bid.
