I stored this little tractor in my hoop house over the winter and the mice had a hay day with the wiring. I have it repaired except for the electric clutch. Their are two wires that come off of the clutch, which I assume is a hot and a ground. However at the switch must be a half a dozen wires, what on earth do they all do, the mice did not touch this harness, I have voltage going into the switch, but nothing going to the clutch. Is their a relay or a safety switch that I may be over looking. When I test the switch I can get the voltage in and back out to one of the spades, but it is not the correct spade going to the clutch. Am I looking at a bad switch?

You could try cubcadetcollectors.com. They may have an electrical diagram for your model you can download. You could also try Cub Cadet groups in Yahoo. Hope this helps.

The best Cub Cadet forum on the web is onlycubcadets.com. They have good resources for troubleshooting and diagrams.

The switch for the electric clutch includes connectors for the various safety switches. That's why there are so many contacts and wires. To get the electric clutch to activate you will either have to wire around the safety switches (not recommended for safety reasons) or get the wiring diagram from one of the Cub Cadet web pages the other guys gave you.

The PTO switch is the switch your talking about with all of the wires. It connects all of the safety switches. It is possible that a safety switch is bad. The PTO switch won't send voltage to the clutch until it sees voltage from all of the switches. To test you could temporarily bypass the switches. Also at some point for the '82 series in the 1980's, a relay was added to the safety switch circuit which makes troubleshooting a nightmare. I have replaced a few PTO switches by mistake when it was really a bad relay. A wiring diagram and knowing the model and S/N you have is critical. I believe there is also a procedure for troubleshooting or by passing the relay. The onlycubcadets guys can help there.

Thanks for all the input fellas, I have never seen such a mess in my life to get an electric clutch to work.
