Case 446 Demensions.

This is an odd request. I would like to purchase a Case 446 with a 48" deck on it. The only thing is it's about three hours away from where I live. I'd like to be able to haul it in the back of my 2009 Chevy Colorado, if it would fit, but I will need to know how long and wide it is. Would any of you know the measurements of one of these? I do have a trailer, but would hate to drag that for three hours and find out that there was something wrong with the tractor and decide not to buy it.

I recently hauled a 155 back to Ohio in my 2014 Toyota Tundra, it has the Crew Max cabin and only a 5 1/2 ft. bed. It was the tractor only, and after I let air out of the back tires, only then was I able to close the tailgate. I have a 444, and I can't load the tractor alone and close the tailgate, to long. Not sure what your bed length is, hope this helped.

I do have some heavy load straps I could use. Then I could leave the tailgate down. I'm wondering if the mower deck will fit between the wheel wells?

When I first hauled my 444 home, I had a GMC Sierra 1500/Crew Cab, the J-44 deck was mounted to the tractor, and it wouldn't fit between the wheel wells, took off deck, loaded tractor to one side, slide the deck beside it, and strapped everything down. You possibly could look up a 446 on here for true measurements I believe if that helps, I think most of the weight with the deck on would be on your tailgate vs. the bed.

Tractor Data shows length of tractor as 72" and width as 41" not sure what the deck size is you have. Hope this helps.?

A Series 46 mower deck has a CUTTING WIDTH of 48". But that measurement does not take into consideration the length of the discharge chute. I can tell you right now that this deck will NOT fit between the wheel wells of your truck. Removal of the deck is simple and it requires no tools. The deck itself weighs 136 1/2 LBS. The length of the tractor from the back of the rear tire where it sticks out the most...to the front of the front tire where it sticks out the most is 70 inches. The widest point of the tractor is 41 inches and that is the rear wheels. The shipping weight of the basic tractor is 770 LBS but the actual weight is slightly less. Load the tractor so that the hood is directly behind the cab of your truck with the tires pressed against the front wall of the box. There should be enough room to drop the deck into the space between the rear tire and the front of the box. Take some padding with you to separate the deck from the tractor during shipment to prevent damage to the tractor. Be sure to put one strap all the way around the rear of the hood to keep it held firmly to the tractor. Make certain that you tie the tractor down to the truck bed firmly using several appropriate tie down straps. If need be, you can remove the deck harness and Mule plate from the deck which would allow you to put the harness on the opposite side of the tractor that you put the deck on. Both items should be strapped securely to the tractor.

Tom,
That sounds encouraging. Now I'll feel more confident about driving all that way to look at it. If it's worth the money I can probably get it home, with the information you gave me
