Garden Tractor 540 rpm PTO

I have IH Cub Cadet 782 that has a QA42 snowblower. The snowblower uses a mounting assembly on front that has a 5/8" belt pulley. I've often thought of using that setup on the front of the tractor to make a 540 rpm output shaft to run some light-duty Cat 0 or 1 implements. I know that the IH Cub Cadet rearend had an optional PTO but the parts are expensive. Has any one rigged up a 540 rpm PTO shaft on your GT?

I don't know if CC ever offered a 540 PTO, DEERE did.

They used an enclosed chain drive.

I've linked some photos to give you some ideas on how it has been done.

The first picture is a PTO on belt-drive tractor with the engine mounted crosswise, the others are PTOs for hydro tractors with a shaft-drive hydro.

Those 540 PTO attachments for garden tractors are a real collector's item. I've seen pictures of
other brands with similar attachments as well.

Neighbor had a 540 rear pto on an Allis Chalmers Garden Tractor. He ran his ear corn elevator with it. It was in the late 60's I think.

Another sign that the good old days are gone. I guess back in the day there were alot of farmers buying garden tractors. You would think there would still be an interest in a 25-hp PTO unless manufacturers are afraid of warranty issues. Probably not very many warranty claims in the old days on heavy duty CC, JD, AC, Case, Ford, Gravely, Wheelhorse, etc. GTs. The junk tractors made today are just for homeowners, or they buy zero turns. Or the next step up is a $20,000 orange tractor with a loader. Funny to see people mowing grass with a bucket on the front.

Im not sure the rpm you are asking but I would check
direction of rotation. The factory cc pto and small
farmall ran backwards of every thing else.
