Case mower deck sizes

Was wandering if case made any mower decks bigger than a 48" besides the 60". Also what would be a good value of a good J46 deck 48"?

CASE and Ingersoll made a 38 inch, 44 inch, 48 inch and 60 inch side discharge deck. They also made a 44 inch rear discharge deck. The 60 inch deck only fits the 444, 446 and 448 models built for the 1980 model year and later. A J46 deck in nice shape should bring $100.00 to $150.00 depending upon local demand.

Did they offer a rear discharge deck that will fit my 224 when I get it done? It would be great to mow and sweep the yard simultaneously.

Yes..... as mentioned, Case and Ingersoll offered a 44 inch cut width rear discharge deck. For your tractor, that would be a Model 45 deck with a letter in front. In other words, you would be looking for a J-45, K-45, L-45, M-45 or N-45. The letter changed over the years but all of them will fit your 224. These decks were popular for mowing grass in cemetery's as well in yards with a lot of flower beds. It is best to use a tow behind lawn sweeper with them because they do not spread the clippings in a wide path like the side discharge decks do and so it is often the case that a windrow of clippings is created. That makes the lawn look like a freshly mowed hay field.
