Battery charrging light on John Deere GT225

I recently replaced the battery on my John Deere GT225 lawn mower. Now the battery charge light stays on while it is running. It didn't prior to changing battery. Any help would be appreciated.

You didn't connect the battery backwards, even for a moment, and blow a fuse, did you? (If it has a charging system fuse.)

Thanks for the info. A friend hooked it up for me. I will look for a blown fuse
