Briggs 675 190cc available starter kit?

Getting very weary of towing this wood splitter to the mechanics for a short term fix. I quit using ethanol per their suggestion. Many times couldn't get back fast enough from the end of the long starter rope pull to reach and punch primer bulb to keep it going. As this circus went on while I am getting a gym-equal workout, the brief sputters got longer until it would stay running. Mechanic said they fixed the air inlet leak??? More than once it only required a new sparkplug to get it started and when running seemed to run well. I always run the tank empty before I quit and usually that is all I can do anyway! I am thinking of converting it to a 3hp single phase as I seldom use it in the field. I am getting too old to fight with this thing every year. Thanks for listening and I hope I can get a starter kit or a different engine that will fit into the hyd. pump. Leo

sounds simply like gas restrict issue. if you don't use this but seasonal put the can gas product in it nowdays. only reason i
recommend it is it has 5 year shelf life. has worked great for low use items. running the 10% gasohol gas is not your problem. i
run it in everything in and out of this shop. its always the blame but usually it is never the true reason motor won't run from
what this shop sees. where are you and how old is this unit. they had some bad carbs on some going out the door, it should been
taken care of buy the selling dealer if serial numbers range matched up.

Let me guess, Tractor Supply 22 ton splitter? Lots of write ups from others with same problem on the Arborists site.
Although SpeeCo never admitted the mistake they quickly got away from those pieces of trash and now are back to a China/Kohler that will at least start and run. The fix for your problem is the main jet needs to be reamed out slightly but that is not allowed at a B&S servicing dealer due to the engine no longer being able to meet EPA requirements If he modifies it. Your choice is D-I-Y or find somebody who both knows what they are doing and is willing to do it. Whoever does it needs to be vary careful about how much is taken out, the hole is tiny and very little need to be removed. Even after modifying mine so it could be started and run I soon tired of the garbage engine and re powered the splitter with a Yanmar diesel.

I would think you could talk your lovely wife into standing there a few minutes to push the primer bulb for you. It might even be good to have some supervision from a safety standpoint. (use that as part of your sales pitch). And as intelligent as I hear she is, she would probably get bored just watching and help. It would be a good try anyway. Unless she is much smarter and could see through the ploy. Roy

Yeah, Roy, she would be hard to fool! She is pretty smart as she married me 54 years back. Leo

Rats, I wanted this bingo to go to Butch's comment. It is a TSC sourced splitter and everything else on it works well. It is a little slow, but I am a little slow too and I still have all my fingers. Leo

It is a 22 ton Speeco from TSC. I think I bought it in 2010 as the engine build date says 08-09 Aug 09? I will take the issue up with TSC to see if I can get a new carburetor and put it on myself. I managed to get it started this season by taking off the breather assy and dosing it a couple of trys with starting fluid. Thanks guys. Leo

You are throwing good money after bad. I hate to
say this, but...

Go to harbor freight. Get a new Chinese knock off
for $99. They are quiet and run like a scalded dog. I
have one on a 3000 watt generator that's a good 10
years old. It set for a couple of years and fired right
up the other day. Put your engine on Craig's List.
Some other guy will want it to fix theirs.

I use what we called white gas (straight gas no
additives) in anything that doesn't run frequently. It
either helps or I think it does. Either way it's ok.
From the sounds of things you have more than $99
in frustration alone. Go buy an engine.
