Snapper lawn tractor electric pto clutch

I just bought a Snapper lawn/garden tractor with an 18 hp horizontally opposed Briggs and Stratton flathead twin engine. I was told the electric clutch didn't work as the wires to it were broken. I took it apart and found that the inner bearing had seized and the coil windings had been ripped loose from the mounting plate and ripped the lead wires loose. Anyone ever tried to repair this type of problem? I haven't cleaned it up enough to see if there was damage beyond repair.

In the past, there's been a few posts on here from guys that have rebuilt electric clutches to the point of rewinding them and potting the coil back into epoxy.

I did a real quick search and didn't find them, but they should be back in the site archives somewhere, if you want to try to search.
