eaton 700 leals

i havea woods 1250 mow n machine with a eaton 700 hydro. i belieave it is leaking oil out of the hydro where the forward reverse linkage comes out of the hydro. does anyone have any information on these hydros it would really help. thanks

We had a Grasshopper with that transmission in the shop a week ago. (Grasshopper made some of the Woods mowers. I don't know if they made all of them or not.) It had a crack in the main case. So Look close at yours. The main case was never offered as a replacment part.
In our case, Grasshopper said that that transmission went obsolete about 2 years ago. Some parts are still avaialble.
Now, In the past, I have called Grasshopper about Woods mower parts, they will admit that they made the mower but beyond that they are not very helpful.

there is oil coming out where the direction control linkage goes into the hydro on top. is there a seal there that is servicable fom the outsde of the case.

As far as I know, there is a seal there. I would search for a parts breakdown or parts diagram for my mower model number, Hopefully there is a breakdown for the transaxle within it.

any word on this? I too have a Woods 1250 with the same Eaton 700, left hydro is dead, where to get parts? Want to locate parts before I tear it down, at least so I know stuff is available for it in the 1st place.... will probably go through both hydros while I am at it

is it ok here to bump threads? I would like to know how the OP made out on this deal because i have the same mower and hydro that has its own issues.
I replied a few days ago but somehow it got intertwined between old responses instead of at the end.....

just got a "repai manual" for these via Ebay, shows how to dismantle and reassemble alright bit the (tt) short troubleshooting page (showed all of 3 possible trouble symptoms), follow the flow chart on any symptom and the end result says "replace transmission" and the book had a print date of 1982 even,,, I cannot find anyone that offers parts for sale for them, so does that mean that they were a throw a way unit?
