honda gx390 rpm and dixson wireless tach

have dixson handheld wireless tach instrument for seeing rpm on chainsaw. battery aok. tried on honda gx390. did not read anything. why not ? what can i use to dial in rpm for carb settings ? txs

If tach a mod 1082 dixson the most probable cause of same not working is the honda eng has a digital cdi ign system with variable timing and probably a shielded plug lead to prevent radio/tv interference,many analog meters won't work on a digital system or if plug lead shielded,try meter on a briggs,kohler or tecumseh eng with point/solid state ign and see if it works on those,you may need an optical tach for the honda eng.

went on youtube & a guy demonstrated how to use it. one must have wire on handheld tach close to spark plug. then aok
