B&S 320400 series on a Gilson Tractor. Carb is adjusted, at times it skips or sputters. When shutting off it pops out the exhaust.
Any ideas for fix?
Thanks, Fred

Have the points and condenser been replaced? The two 16hp Briggs I have are very sensitive to the point gap. Just a hair out and they run poor.

Try opening the main jet adjusting screw on the carburetor. Hal

Yea I'd try turning the main jet out 1/8th to 1/4 turn and see it that helps.

Also see if your key is just a little sheared. It will bend your mind how little it takes. The V tech twins are really hair pin with that.

yeah man yer on the right track, a bit richer is a good lick, the other thing that helps is, idle it down for a few minutes before ya kill the ignition n the hot junk in the muffler will cool down enough to not detonate the next exhaust stroke that spun down after ya killed the ig. some units will need ya to idle down then kill with the choke to cool things enough...
