My B48 Onan only runs smooth on 1/2 choke.....is it the infamous intake manifold? Obviosly too much air, I rebuilt the carburetor last year and checked the intake manifold at that time and it was good and tight so I didn't drill out the rivets,,, what do you think?

If you are sure the carb is clean. I would check the throttle shaft for side wear.Check the manifold gaskets make sure they are in good shape and not cut. Check the fuel pump housing for cracks.Spray the manifold with some WD40. If you hear a change in the engine. You have found your leak. Some manifolds did get out. With bad seal surface. Fails in time.Does the engine seem ok. No black exhaust, both plugs firing, breather valve clean.I will check my PSB files. To see if the factory has any warnings on this problem. Is this the GA018

Yes, it's a GAO18, Complete carb.rebuid last year included the throttle shaft. Runs good at 1/2 choke with no smoke. I'll check gaskets (new last year) fuel pump, etc. next weekend. I was too busy to get really involved with it last weekend. I'll let you know what I find.
