If you keep doing what you were doing with the old W.H. you should have no problems. Extra hp. tempts the owners to force the machine to do more than it was ever designed to do and may have adverse effect on belts and drive train parts.

The big issue is that Briggs no longer offers a flathead replacement engine and I think your 8hp. was a flathead. Do you have an extra couple inches under the hood for an overhead valve engine? Briggs should have the dimensional data for the new engine, so you can measure before you buy.
