Fill/drain plug

The transaxle drain/fill plug is missing on older '68 - '75 Gilson Wards tractor. Does anyone know the plug size? Have some plugs but none fit.

Bought as a "good deal" a '68 Gilson/Ward 12 HP tractor. Had to elevate to get the engine drain plug out, someone had really forced the plug in. When elevated oil was running out the transaxle, someone had left the plug out! WOW, This is really turning out to be a good deal! Found plug to fit and then after consuming a lot of time filled transaxle with oil. If I did not have to elevate may never have know the plug was missing.
That fellow tractor enthusiasts is what happens with a good deal!!

Most anything on those that I have seen is 1/8 or 1/4 pipe. I know the pipe for an oil filter on say a Briggs engine is 1/2 but is not pipe but is straight thread like a bolt. Special from a junk engine or your mower supply. Do you know anyone with thread chase taps? Some foregn stuff is like 10 metric and on it goes. There are so many ways that these machines are built but most of this stuff is pipe thread. This may have helped you a little but if there is damage then all bets are off. Nothing like Godzilla with a wrench! It is late and I am not at full power. Hope I helped.

How would it help knowing what motor he
had? Could be any motor, could have been
changed over the years, not matter what it
has little effect on the differential drain
plug!

Ah you are so right guess you never read something got the wrong thing in your mind? Yes it was a mistake on my part I seen it after it was too late to edit.

I think my Wards tractor made by Gilson has a 3/4 or a 1/2 inch pipe plug. I have to remove the right rear rim and tire to gain access to the plug.
