Hi Folks!

I am looking for (new or in really-good-shape) left and right rear axles for an S-8 lawn tractor made by Sperry-Rand or New Holland. Serial number is: 279312. I would greatly appreciate any tips or help finding these parts.

Thanks!

(quoted from post at 18:16:48 09/22/15) New Holland garden tractors were made by Ariens during the '70s era. You might want to try Ariens.

Thanks! I will do that tomorrow. I appreciate the quick reply.

I would dispute that "New Holland tractors were made by Ariens" Actually New Holland garden tractors were made by Sperry New Holland and the lawn and garden line was
later sold to Ariens and in some cases cheapened. I sold New Holland at that time and owned 3 New Holland tractors so I have personal knowledge of this. New Holland
tractors were ahead of their time.

Johnpop1,
I am sure that all information about this rather obscure line of garden tractors is welcome but the OP should move ahead and contact Ariens anyway in the hopes that all of the information about the New Holland line of GT's that Sperry was building, ended up in the hands of Ariens. Granted...it is a long shot but you just never know what might be lurking in the Ariens archives and/or the parts department.

Thanks johnpop1! I appreciate your feedback. There aren't too many "old Heads" around that have knowledge of this tractor. Are there any "bone-yards" for these vintage models or are we left to try to machine new parts? Maybe there are some blueprints still out there to work from, do you suppose? It's nice to have a forum like this to discuss these needs. I really appreciate everybody's help!

It was my understanding that the S-12 and the S-14 ran Sperry Vickers hydros. It is possible that the S-8 did also. If this is the case, you would have to find a New
Holland donor because, as I remember it, when New Holland sold the line, they stopped making the hydro. It is probable that a few early Ariens could have had the Sperry
hydros. I don't know. Good luck!

Thanks to all for your thoughts and suggestions. Looks like Ariens may be getting a call shortly.

You're right New Holland built their garden tractors and sold the line to Ariens, but NH continued to build the T-220 which was the 'Industrial' version of the S series usually with things like a sweepster brush and trencher attachments.I have a T-220 with a Sweepster brush that NH built long after the garden tractor line was gone.

Thanks EL6147 for the reply. Just to be clear...are you selling parts from the tractor or are you wanting to sell the entire tractor? I need the left and right rear axles and would be interested in the asking price of those pieces. If you want to sell the entire machine, then I would need to know how much and where you are located. Thanks again for your reply!
