It's been a while since I posted on yesterdays tractors about my Case 646 problems. I've been in an out of the hospital this past few months just have'nt had the time or streight to do anything.
Since last time I posted on here I was having hydraulic pressure problems on my 646. I ordered a new pump Cessna 26004RZC pump. I ordered the CW rotation pump. The old pump had a patent # 2809592 on it. It had the 0.700 shaft diameter and the new on has 0.750 3/4" dia. shaft. On this old of a maching at the time I could'nt find a coupler the would fit. most was a smaller in diameter coupling. So I looked up a machine shop close to me and I had them take the inner bore down too 0.750 and redo the keyway also.

Most machine shops it was too small of a job to tinker with. But I found one in N.W. Ohio about 18 miles from me said he'd be glad to do it. Told me to come bak next day. He did have it ready early that morning. (nice bunch of people there) !!!

I took it home and I mounted the I mounted the pump braket first then put the two couplers together in the center and slid the pump in the couplers. Pefect fit! From there i put all the hoses and pluming on plus the plumming on the bucket valve too make room to minipulate in a small area.
Double check my fittings then put a new 1" suction hose on the fill with 20w-40 rotella oil.

I started it up with running the loader up an down to get any asperated air in system. Then I tryed the ground drive valve to see if it would work ok. It didn't want to move very well when pressing the pedal to the floor but it did roll out of where it was parked. From there I tryed forward motion and I noticed it was very slow moving.

Between the slow motion all the way around I shut it off and checked the fluid level and it was ok. Since then I been in and out of hospitals and doc offices i been sitting for some time again.
In the between times running around I managed to get a hold of the place I ordered the pump. My question was did I order the right pump? I ordered to be CW rotation but now thinking was I wrong? Anyways long story short I also gave the guy my old part # off the other pump that was on it. Said he could bring that numbers up in his books to go by?

He gave me another guy in Ill. phone # but has return my call yet. Right now I'm still going thru a bunch of scans from doctors and haven't really done too much to the 646 since then.

Anyways i thought I'd post something on where I'm at on this. Just trying to find out why I have less pressure with this new pump and what I had with the old one. Between the two pumps theres not that much differnce but I'm no expert on the hydraulic systems on how it works.

Does anyone have knowlege on this old pump Pt # 2809592? If it's a RH rotation or LH rotation? Going too thank any answers I get right now as I may not be here tomorrow so to speak. Lets just say what I went thru this past month in this one hospital you could say I should feel lucky I'm here today. Talk about being in good hands with doctors expereinces well I never went back and found a doctors that tells u right up front whats going on an not beating around the bush! Believe me it was a night mare where I was at! Long story.

Fortunately, your hydraulic problem is simple. Unfortunately, you bought the right pump but with the wrong rotation. Almost ALL gas and diesel engines used in lawn and garden tractors have a CW rotation when viewing the crankshaft output shaft straight on, including the Onan in your 646. Therefore, the hydraulic pump, which also must be viewed straight on from the shaft side, must be a CCW type to be correct. Yes... the CW pump you have will move some oil but it will not build pressure to any great degree nor will it provide the necessary volume.

Patent numbers are irrelevant, BTW.

Tom,
Leave it to me being cofussed on the rotation on these pump to engine setup. my problems was on how you was looking at it at the time. i got back with the source where I bought the pump and asked if they had the same setup but with a CCW rotation.
I will call them tomorrow as it was too late in the day today when I got back from town. He also said he had some information on the old pump too.
Like too thank you for your help tom. I'm sure I will have more questions later on. For now Thganks again!
