Does anyone have an aftermarket source for gaskets for a 160 Deere with the L-head Kaw. engine? Deere does not have head gaskets anymore?

Get the model/spec. number of that Kawasaki and call a small engine dealer that services Kawasaki. He 'may' be able to help. Remember that engine is about 30 years old and Kawasaki is saying that they are not going to support those engines with parts like they have in the past.

I say 'may' because that 160 engine is supposed to be a 'service by Deere only' part. But most gaskets should be common with a similar model and spec. engine that he does have access to.

That said, I did run into an apparent 'Deere only' spec. water cooled kawasaki that I could not get a carburetor elbow for-except through Deere. And then the part was on 'indefinite back order'. Meaning that there were no plans to ever have any more. But my dealer found it at another dealer and got it shipped in.

If you GOOGLE "DEERE PT13342" it appears there are some still out there, and you will see that the Kawasaki part # is KA110042091, 110042091, or 11004-2091 and appears to be readily available for $11 and up.
