John Deere lt 166 engine cuts out in reverse

Hello all. I have a nice tractor that I've had for five years. This has a Briggs van guard in it. I'm guessing this tractor is late 90s. While mowing when you go from forward to reverse the engine cuts out. It only cuts out with deck on and going in revere. Mower deck off it is fine.I bypassed the seat switch with same problem. There was a button in the dash to bypass safety when going in reverse that has been bypassed since I've had it. So what else could it be? Only thing I could think of is the mower deck engagement switch is flaky. Any ideas???

As Smit said, there may be another safety switch somewhere, OR, if it has a safety switch that has been bypassed, as you indicated, check the wiring on that. Something may be making contact where it isn't supposed to. My Sears has the reverse bypass built into the switch, normal start/run position kills the engine when reverse is used with the mower engaged. But since there are no pets or young children around my house, I turn the ign. switch one point to the left and it will bypass the kill switch.
