LT1045 PTO Clutch Help

Looking for a little help here. I have a 2007 CUB LT1045. I was cutting the lawn yesterday when the mower suddenly starting vibrating and banging. I stopped and removed the 46" deck.

What i found was the PTO clutch wire had severed and the clutch would swing and hit a metal guard causing the banging and vibration.

I have no idea what caused this to happen.

Is the clutch bad? Any reccomendation on a fix?

Thanks in advance

MTD owns Cubcadet. The belts use MTD part numbers.

All the electric clutches I've been around have a notch
that a steel bracket slips into to prevent the clutch from
spinning. Have have never seen an electric clutch held by
a cable.

I have only seen this on YouTube via my search. Is the reason it is spinning is the notch broke? Would I need an entirely new Clutch.
