I bought a new fan for it , the old metal one was missing two blades. The new one has no way to attach it to the shaft. Looks like a hose clamp is the way to go ?
 
That's what I used. Actually, to be sure it was balanced o.k. I used two. with the screws on opposite sides of the shaft. Only one clamp actually holds the fan on.
 
Thanks for the replies, I thought of the spring clamps too , but can't find any in my shop , so I finished removing the broken blades from the original fan , and then I glued the plastic fan to the original hub with silicone. That seems to be plenty strong , and if not , I'll find some clamps ....
 
You can also balance a drive shaft with hose clamps that way. sight down the shaft and turn them so they line up away from the bend.
