Kohler k321 issues

Hey everyone,
Yesterday I bought a 1974 john deere h3 with a non running motor.
I have removed the motor today and tore everything down to the block to get it ready to send off to machine shop.

I went to remove the valves and after I removed the valve cover I found these tiny little springs and ball bearings that are the size of a bb. At this point Im lost, what could these tiny little springs and bb sized bearings came from? I havent removed the governor yet and not sure if that is where these could have come from?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

PS
I should also mention that the head was not on the engine, so I guess it might be possible that these springs and ball bearings came from somewhere else, possibly fell into the valve area while they were open[/img]

(quoted from post at 23:12:43 08/12/15) The exhaust valve rotator has fallen apart and needs to be replaced.

Thank you Bob,
That helps me alot!
I was going nuts trying to figure out where those parts had come from lol,

One last question, do you know where online I can order one of these rotators from? I searched ebay and google and I am not finding any for some reason.

Thank you again
Mike

Nevermind, I finally found the part number, Just in case anyone else ever runs into the same issue the part # for the valve rotator is Kohler part # 52 413 01-S

On the net, Jacks Small Engines or TEW (Tulsa Engine Warehouse).

I think the Kohler part # is 52 413 01-S.

I recently bought one through the local John Deere dealer,DEERE part # M74924, @ about $19, which I believe is pretty competitive to what you will find on the net.
