muffler threads worn in block B&S

I have an 8hp B&S in a Turf Trac lawnmower I just bought. The muffler won't stay in. Looks like the threads in the block must be worn. I tried a new muffler & it won't stay in either. need suggestions. A friend suggested I try muffler cement, But not sure it would hold because it does vibrate quite a bit.
Thanks in advance.

Exhaust cement works well to seal leaks in otherwise solid systems, it doesn't work at all when the structure is gone as in your case.
Aluminum or iron block? Depending on how bad the threads are you can sometimes run a pipe tap in the exhaust port and cut enough new threads to repair the damage. You can also use a short length of pipe and short thread it, meaning don't run the die all the way down which leaves the threads larger diameter. If the block is iron and the threads are completely gone the alternative is to weld the pipe to the block with rod designed to weld steel to iron.

Thanks. I found a flange that fits the 2 holes on the block. It has a 4" long pipe welded to it with a threaded end.. I put a nipple on the end & threaded the muffler into the nipple.
