74 MF 10 Differential problem

After putting a couple bearings in my MF 10 thehousinggs will not go together ..The input shaft where they meet seems like it holds the casings apart by 40 0r sothou..As soon as I go to snog the bolts to tighten housing it just jams up the input shaft so I cant turn it..O needle bearings loose under long shaft and only using the washers that came with it and did not replace thase 2 bearings..Is there a chance that this shaft has to be that tight ??I don't believe so..I put a little dab of caulking on top of all the washers and ends of shafts and the only place it completely sqeezed out was between these two shafts..HELP..ps ok TO USE SILICONE FOR GASKET?? mAYBE TO THIN??

You can't force that - something is not quite lined up. There are a couple of tricks to putting the case sides back together on the peerless transaxles. There should be several threads about that on the Weekend Freedom Machines website. You may need to join to get access to the search function.

Steve in MO knows more about these than I do, but if it came with a gasket between the halves, you may have to put one in to get the end play right on the shafts.

There are a lot of ways to do something like that wrong, and only one right way.
Makes life complicated some days.
