Jari Monarch restoration

I'm working on a new to me Jari Monarch. So far, I've replaced the old briggs with a Honda GC 160 and have gotten the mower running (breaking the sicklebar loose took the better part of a day). The po must have left it in the damp for a while.

A few issues have come up that I need to resolve.

(1) Today one of the old tires separated, completely. Is Jari in Mankato MN the only source of parts for these mowers?

(2) I found a number of grease points for the mower, but the main shaft that drives the "zerk" drive doesn't have any apparent grease points. Is this for real? Seems like a pretty big part to have no lubrication.

(3) How are you supposed to lubricate the sickle bar? Is it just meant to be oiled manually after each use?

(4) The sickle gets bound up in long grass, in part because it seems to have a tendency to nosedive. Is there a standard height that an agricultural mower runs at (ie, the sickle on a Farmall A or Ford 9n - does that run 2" above turf?)

ntmoore,
Sorry about the late reply. Haven't been here for a while. Last summer, I inherited my father in law's Jari. I was able to salvage the original briggs motor, after doing electrolysis on the gas tank, and cleaning the intake tube with a tip cleaner. You are correct, the main shaft has no grease zerks. I guess they are packed well with grease at assembly time. As far as the nose diving, mine has triangular shaped skids on each end that adjust from about 1" to 6." The only way to lube the bar, is with a squirt can. It also took me a good while to free it up. If you need sections, go to a site called Webbs Sickle Service, and type in "single sections" and they will come up. They are 2" wide x 2 13/16 deep, with holes drilled 1 3/8 apart. $4 each. If you need a manual, Google Jari Monarch Manuals, and you can find a PDF to print out. It may not be the right "year," but they didn't change much, as far as parts go. Is the tire to far gone to put some self-tapping screws in the sides? (So as not to interfere with the drive rollers) Good Luck
