What Hayban sickle bar mower will fit a Cub cadet int 782

Are their different mounting kits needed and if so what model Number?
Does any other company make a sickle bar mower for a 782?
And last does anyone have one for sale?
Thanks northeast puller

When it came to sickle bar mowers for garden tractors, two companies pretty much ruled the roost. Haban and Didier both made universal units that were sold to dealers along with mounting kits that adapted the mower to all of the various top brands of garden tractors such as Case, Cub Cadet, Simplicity, Allis Chalmers etc. Both companies have been out of business for decades. Parts are difficult to locate and some items have to be custom made, often at considerable cost. If you go to Yahoo Groups, there is a Haban forum there where you might find much better information. For the most part, sickle mowers have become just an attachment for show tractors. Not that many people use them. They opt for a bush hog style mower instead. Much safer and a lot cheaper to maintain.

Some people don't have a full sized, compact, or sub-compact tractor with which to run a brush hog mower.
Most garden tractors aren't set up to run a brush hog and unless the tractor is a fairly large one, it will be under powered.

An advantage of the sicklebar mower is that it takes very little power to cut tall hay and small brush.

Another advantage of the sickle bar mower is the ability to mow banks vertically up to about 90 deg and below grade nearly 45 deg.

However, finding a sickle bar mower for a garden tractor is very difficult and if one is found, it is likely to be very expensive.

I have an Allis WD-45 with a side mounted sickle bar mower, an Allis D-17 which I use with a 5 foot (wish it was six foot) Bush Hog mower and a Ford LGT-120 with a 40" sickle bar mower. They all have their place.

It has been a long time since I heard anyone looking for or talking about a Haban sickle mower. I bought my Jacobsen built Ford 100 in 1971 with the 42" cast aluminum mower and the 4' Haban sickle bar. That was also when I found out Jacobsen built the Ford.
My son has the tractor and mower deck. I still have the sickle bar with plans to mount it on either another Ford that I have or on one of the Jakes that I have.
I also have a Jake built White and just recently acquired a Jake built Minneapolis Moline.
Years ago I was at an auction in Indiana and there was a MM with a sickle bar. Tractor and mower sold for $1700.

I have a Haban mounted on a 1200 Cub Cadet and another that was for a different brand that was modified (adapted) to fit a Cub Cadet. I fought the bar for a long time because they kept breaking. Then someone told me to idle it down. I now mow along a small ditch behind the house and about 1/2 mile of roadside a couple of times each summer. When on the road, I have my wife behind me in the truck with the flashers on so some idiot does not hit me. For a replacement sickle, I found a John Deere mower bar that has about the same section size but is 9' long. I cut it down and made 2 out of it.

I had a electronic file on different models and what they fit but did not find it yet. May be on the old retired computer. I also have a Haban original manual for an Allis Chalmers application. Being in the right place at the right time helps.

Interesting.....I bought a sickle bar mower for the early Ford/Jake about 10 years ago with the intention of putting it on either my Ford 100 or 125 but never got around to it.
That particular sickle bar mower is made by Didier (the hydraulics people) and is specifically built for those early "angle-iron" framed Ford/Jakes. It has it's own hydraulic pump, tank and motor.
A very well built machine.
BTW, I also have the 42" aluminum deck which is probably one of the nicest decks ever built.
I should probably put them together to sell as a package; I'm gettin' too old to finish all the projects I had grand visions of completing when I was younger. LOL
