I have a Case 222 that has a steering rod unhooking from the left tie rod. It looks like a snap on type cup that may have just worn too much. Are there any repairs for this??

To further Tom's answer.. LOL... That part is available at any of the Case/ Ingersoll dealers. Try Barneveldimplement.com Bill will have that part and will ship it quickly!! I would recommend replacing both, as if one is worn that bad the other cannot be far behind

I have taken a flat washer & cut a slot in it to make it like a c so it would slip around the ball joint clip & brazed it to keep the ball joint
from dropping out . This is an interim fix until you can replace it .

I had one fall apart and I just popped it back on and peened it some, that was three years ago.

Well I have to admit that I am somewhat surprised. So far, no one has suggested using Duct Tape, Binder Twine or a Bungee Cord. One of the reasons why good tractors become a total POS is because
some owners are just too cheap to conduct proper repairs to them. The current replacement cost of this GARDEN TRACTOR is around eight thousand dollars. Does it not deserve some new parts after
more than 30 years of service?

Case used two different styles of rod ends. One style is threaded externally and the other is threaded internally. And both the drag link and the tie rod use a Left Hand rod end and a Right Hand rod end so
that the rod itself can be lengthened or shortened just by rotating it and then locking it with the jam nut.

Doug..... if your rod end has fallen apart... that is a clear sign that there is a lot of wear and tear in the steering system. Do yourself and your tractor a favour and purchase new rod ends for the drag link
and the tie rod from the LINK below. Far cheaper than what any dealer charges. Fix it now, fix it properly and put this issue behind you for at least the next 10 years.
Surplus Center

I bought a left and a right from Surplus Center for my 444 last fall. When the package arrived, I had two right hand threads. I phoned them and told them and the fella said he would send a left right out. When I asked what I should do with the wrong one, he said just keep it for a spare.

If one messes with the deck lift arms (for more lift), he will probably
pop off a steering arm ! hmmmmm ?
