Kohler Command 16 hp hard to start when cold

Hi, I'm new to this forum so hello to everyone!

My 16 hp Kohler Command has to turn over forever when it is cold before it starts. Once it starts and runs for a minute or so, I can shut it off and it will fire right up again.

I have fresh gas in it & it is only the cold start that causes issues. The plug looks normal & the choke seems to work fine.

Any ideas what my problem might be?

Thanks in advance and I look forward to getting to know you all on this site!!!

First thing I can say is switch over to HI test gas.The regular is such junk now. My big snow blower in real cold weather will not start and I put AV gas in it. That is the stuff they use in planes! It is 104 octain baby! Don't go that route with your machine just try the hi test with a little startron for the ethinol and a little stayble too. The choke plate is sometime touchy so make sure she closed ALL of the way. I still think the gas may help.Jeffcat

P.S.....Read my Not good running list a couple down. Change your fuel filter too and check for water in the bowl and good fuel flow. You may just be on the edge of running and don't know it.

Mine was that way for a year. What I didn't realize was the choke cable wasn't shutting the
butterfly completely. They need to be ALL the way closed. I had sworn it was set right, but it
needed just another 16th of an inch. In made all the difference in the world.

Check your choke cable to ensure that when you put the lever in choke the choke butterfly closes fully. You'd be surprised the
difference it makes when fully closed vs partially open. BTDT
