Wheel Horse Fuel Pump

Wheel Horse 310-8 with Kohler 241S will not pump gas into carb. I replaced the fuel pump, still no good. When I pump the lever I get gas, but not on the motor. Can something be worn out in the motor that wont move the pump lever?

If you replaced a metal body with a plastic body pump use permatex or teflon tape on inlet/outlet fitting & screw fittings into pump body 6 full turns to prevent pump from sucking air at fittings,if you now have pump mounted on eng remove pump, reinstall pump with arm on TOP of cam NOT under cam as pump may not operate or will be damaged.NEVER operate pump arm by hand as actual travel by cam small & there is a large overtravel in pump arm & operateing same by hand will damage/destroy pump diaphram.

The plastic replacement Kohler fuel pumps that I am familiar with use 0-rings to seal and are not threaded, but snap together. I would not reccommend using any kind of sealer on them. Read the instructions when you put the fittings in the pump.

Joe is probably right-your pump arm is not riding on the top of the lobe on the cam.

Ok I will try to re install to get pump lever on top of lobe.

Looking online at kohler pumps you're right about snapin fittings, been a while since I replaced a pump on any of my K series eng, last plastic pump I installed had threaded ports & you reused inlet/outlet fittings from old pump.

I just replaced one on my Cub Cadet with kohler 18 ms with the snap in fittings. It came with a large snap ring to compress the tabs to allow the the fitting to snap in. Before starting I read the directions except for the last paragraph which I read after the job was done,it said to discard the gasket and replace with an odd shaped o ring included. Well I installed it with a new gasket also included. I am not sure why they would change from a gasket to an o ring but I hope I don't have problems. BTW the new pump works great and will now pump 2-3 psi and hold.

I found the snap ring they supplied was to big so I modified the ends to fit better and I still had trouble so I went and got my 6" outside spring calipers they worked great. A helper would also have worked.
