Cub Cadet self propelled mower starts and cuts out

I have a Cub Cadet mower with a Briggs 7.75 hp engine. It has not run in 5 years. It will start and great for a few seconds and cut out. New Plug, rinsed out gas tank, cleaned carb and brass gizmo that holds the bowl on. Also checked spark and compression. When one guy pull starts it and I look in the carb(with air filter off) the venturi puts out a nice mist and stops a few seconds later. New seat and
float valve put in also. Will not run on starting fluid mist once carb cuts out of gas. It is a Model 100000 series. Does anyone have any more ideas? There is one welch plug in it that I did not remove. Would like to keep everything Briggs, but I am tempted to buy another Oregon carburetor.

Sounds like a slow fuel flow into the carb issue... when the fuel in the float bowl is used up, it stalls, then will restart when given a little time for the fuel bowl to slowly fill.

Is there a filter or screen (maybe even inside the tank) that could be clogged?

Otherwise, could be a needle and seat issue... clogged or float not dropping far enough.

'100000 series' doesn't tell us much. The original 100000 was a great big 4 hp vertical shaft engine from back in the '60s. If you are going to give a model number, give us all of it.

That said, and you are describing a later model engine,
You either have a fuel flow problem, You still have a carburetor problem, or if your engine has the plastic crossover tube to the opposite side of the engine, it may have a crack in the tube or air leak in the gasket.
There is also possibility of valve problems, but its pretty remote.
And you can't make it run on carb. cleaner-You aren't really using either, are you?

If the tube is cracked, you probably also have a bent crankshaft. When I see a cracked tube I usually find the crank bent and the extra vibration took out the tube.

If fuel bowl has a square nut on bottom remove it in that nut is a hole its pluged poke it out with a tag wire,Could be down center.
