I just bought a 682 cub hydro. changed the oil and made the adjustments to get the hydro working again. Used it for the first time today mows beautiful but I can not seem to get the hydro to work right yet. It can not keep a constant speed you have to constantly be working the hydro lever. Also I have tried and tried to adjust the forward and reverse movement you almost have to have it half way forward to stop going in reverse but once it starts forward you can stop in the neutral position. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you have a problem with the centering spring on the side of the pump. Go to www.ihcubcadet.com and look in the FAQ column. It explains how to fix it there. If you browse around, there are pictures of other ways to repair the spring pockets too.

I read this, didn't think it could possibly be the problem with my CC 129. But one rainy day about 2 months ago I welded up and re-cut the spring pockets in mine and it made it more than 90% better than it was.

I still have a problem with the handle going back to neutral, but read there is also an adjustment on the shaft for that.

I finally got around to replacing the spring and found that the bracket going into the hydro unit was worn out to the point that the tabs that hold the springs in place were about to fall out welded it up and replaced the springs man what a difference thanks for the advice.
