1973 JD shifting lever

A new shifter is your best bet. I remember on a Jacobsen several years back the welding shop refused to touch it because it was hardened.

So I carried it home and welded it myself and it worked fine, except I never could hit the creeper gear after that.

Dave, go to www.jdparts.com and make a few mouse clicks to open the "parts catalog" section.

Once you have done this, you can look up the transmission parts that apply to your tractors model # and serial number.

Then, you will have a part # to call the dealer with to check availability and $.

Or, enter "DEERE" followed by the part # into GOOGLE search and see what's out there on the 'net.

(The DEERE site will allow you to open the parts catalog without registering, however, if you register with a local dealer and get setup with a username and PW, you can check parts availability and pricing from the comfort of your home or shop computer.)
