does the engine from a 1282 have the same specs as the engine from a 127 except for the ignition and starter & sheet metal also crankshaft size on the pto side?

If you are thinking of swapping engines, I learned a few things swapping my Kohler for a BS V.

1. Deck is stamped for 2 different hole patterns which seem to be industry standards because of mower OEMs using engines from different mfgrs. and all have to fit the chassis, apparently one for singles, and the other for V engines.

2. Starters are in the same place so the starter wiring fits.

3. Electrical connector and pinout is the same for both so the electrical stuff works like it did.

4. Fuel line is on the same side and new engine comes with a new fuel filter, hose length more than adequate.

Only consideration is whether or not the hood fits. On mine it was just extra weight and I tossed it. If you chose to keep it you could cut the sides out of it or modify accordingly.

The one difference was the control cable. The single had the carb on the left side and the V had it up front. No biggie, got a cable from an auto parts store.
