6 sided spindle

I'm working an old ranch king rider, 38 and need a spindle. The spindle has 6 pt star like pattern for the blade to attach to. When I google ranch king they show a spindle that is similar to a craftsman's that has 3 bolts to hold it on. Others show a 5 point star like pattern.

So who makes the spindle? I haven't seen one online yet.
Thanks,
Geo

I think Ranch King was a box store brand like Craftsman, Dynamark, Wards, Grants, and that the actual mowers were supplied by various manufacturers with decals and colors to the retailer's specifications.

I'm betting that the spindle housing on your mower bolts to the deck with 4 bolts.
I am also betting that the spindle shaft uses the same size nut to hold the pulley on the top as it does to hold the blade on the bottom.

If the above is correct and you have a 6 point star the blade mounts on, your mower was made by MTD. That said, there are somewhere between 6 and a dozen possible spindles you could have. If you carried your old spindle into my shop, I would have to go to the Oregon, Stens, or Rotary catalog with dimensional data to match it up to the right part number.

IF its a lawn tractor, the model number on the tag under the seat should start with 13. If it by chance it is a garden tractor, 14, if its a zero turn, 17. I know some tags are no longer there.

Just make sure when you install those after market blades you take the nut all of the way up by hand and them give it a blip with the air gun. I stripped the day lights out of a spindle cause the blade was not seated correctly. Use a wire brush now and then and I squirt a little oil on stuff too.
