I am going to sell my dads cub cadet. It is
a 1650, it has a mower and a tiller. It was
not started for 3 years, but put charger
and shot starter fluid and it fired up, it
does leak oil. Could someone tell me what
is an average selling price. Thanks.

After sitting that long its going to need a lot of tlc... advertise it $450 but take the first $300 offered. Cosmetic condition is important on those old classics so a good cleaning might help you get closer to the higher mark if there happens to be a CC fan nearby at the right moment. If you did a major clean and lube, new battery and air filter, and if it has good tires you could ask $600 and might get $500

Some of you people are so afraid of saying where something is located and it makes it difficult to place an average price on a piece of machinery.
Some brands are more popular in one region than others.

The last time I was through Muskogee, OK several years ago there was a man that had a sizable collection of Cub Cadets.
At the time he wuz buying every one he could, forgot his name.
Here in Indiana, if its presentable, should bring round five hundred, more or less.
The market on CCs is softening up compared to some years ago.

If the tiller is in workable condition, it will sell for ~ $450. I just sold one!

If you want to sell it for $300, I may be interested.

I would think that a running 1650 with a mower and tiller would be worth a little more than that
unless it is really rough. Last spring there was a sale here in central Kansas that had a number
of "ran when parked but no guarantees now", battery-less narrow-frame Cub Cadets and if I remember
right all went for over $250 in spite of the obviously rough shape of some of them. The Model 100
I bought was the highest of them at a bit over $500 but it has like-new rear bar tires, a mower
deck in good shape, a sleeve hitch, and it fired right up once I got it home and put a battery in
it. Based on how these tractors sold recently in this same general geographic area I'd think the
1650 described would be worth more like $800, especially if the tiller is in decent shape. This
assumes that the leak mentioned isn't anything too serious; a cracked housing or the like would
knock this down a bunch.

There has been about 3 of them for sale in this area and one that was in like new condition with just a mower and it sold for $1,200.00.

Well now you have a $300 offer... I still suggest you take it... its a fair price for a tractor that has sat neglected for three years, if it was restored it would be worth alot more but that isnt always as easy as it sounds, I buy/sell alot of garden tractors and parts, 7 already this year, if you want to sell it quick... ask a fair price and let it go... that or be greedy, ask a ridiculous price and hope that some CC fanatic who just has to have that tractor comes along and is willing to pay the price... he may or maynot.

Ive got a tiller I would sell for $450 also... but this one includes a 109 and mower deck;)

Thank you for all of the responses. This gives me an idea what to do. This tractor is not in that bad of shape. My dad is the origanal owner, it has always been inside, and after setting 3 years without running, after adding a little oil, and starting fluid it did start up. The tiller is on it, I took it outside and tilled a strip down his old garden spot and it worked fine. I am no rookie when it comes to tractors, I have resored several antique tractors and build them up for pullers, but I just dont know about the old garden tractors, so again thank you all very much.

While you know exactly what you have to sell please realize that it is hard to give answers of much value when nothing of importance is known about it. Average price means nothing unless you have an average tractor. Condition and appearance means everything. As the other poster said how big a hurry you are in also makes a difference. A worn out tractor that has never seen the inside of a shed with some worn out attachments is worth just a bit over scrap, maybe $100? quick sale. however A well taken care of low houred tractor could bring close to $1000 if you are patient. I sold a very nice 1650 with deck last fall for $800. A worn out rusty tiller with no extensions is worth $25 quick sale. A decent tiller with no extensions is worth $125. A tiller with little usage, both extensions and nice paint and decals might bring $450 to the right person.

I think everyone is low on their estimates. If you fired it up and its in running condition and barn kept I would say a 1650 in average to above average appearence would bring $600 to $1000 easy in my area (NE Kansas). If its running and all it needs is the basic beginning of the season maintenance the fact it sat 3 years is nothing - as long as it didn't become a rat's nest or sit outside. I watched a fairly nice 1250 sell (shed kept its entire life but showed years of use) sell for $1200 at auction a while back - and all it had was a deck.

Does the engine or the transmission leak oil?

The tiller would bring $300 by itself. I sold my tiller for my 1450 two years ago for $350 and could have sold 3 more like it in a week. I sold it because it was hard to mount and of minimal usefulness once it was on the Cub, I found my Troybilt Horse to be much more useful. I just sold a "running" 127 (would start and drive on the trailer) - no deck, no seat, lots of rust, steering that was embarrassing loose and no idea on the condition of the PTO clutch for $300 and the guy was tickled to get it. I had bought it over the winter for $200 simply because I thought the guy was selling it too cheap.

Thank you. That is what I was kind of thinking myself. I have not really looked into where the oil leak is but I expect it is coming from front seal. It is right in the middle of tractor pulling season and I really just dont want to mess with it, I have my hands full with keeping two pulling tractors going. Thanks again.

Not a 1650 but a pair of 1450s what I would consider average to above average condition:

A 1250 that runs but is not usable in current condition and has been "jacked with" - still asking $375:

A 149 for $500 with some issues

Geeze forget the Cub... that Allis is awesome;) I have a 2N I pull in stock, and a half done Cockshutt 30 will be in modified if/when I ever get it done, but I spend to much time flippin garden tractors at this time of year. We have an annual show and pull here at an antique truck and tractor museum about 5k from my house, it was inevitable that I got involved;)

Oh now your just teasin. Lol

My Pop ran a Cockshutt service center in the '60s and '70s when I was a young kid, did my first wrenchin there changing oil and odd jobs around the shop and Ive been addicted every since.

Just advertise it a price a little above what you are comfortable with taking. Cub Cadets are funny to sell. One day people will knock down your door to get it, others days you can't give one away with a free steak dinner. If you can, I would wait until next year to sell it since we are pretty much past garden tilling season. I advertised a nice 147 with deck and snow plow last year. It looked nice and mowed nice, smoked cold but cleared up hot. Listed it at $500, would have taken $350. All I got were smartace offers for $50. I eventually sold it for $150 and a new pistol trade. FYI, it is worth way more in parts if you are so inclined.

It is a .380 Taurus. Between what it sells for and the boot, it put me at the $350 I was looking for. Would have rather had cash for other projects, but had been wanting a small carry gun.
