cub 149 transmission

My 149 cub hydrostatic will be going along then take off full speed by its self. This has become quite annoying since I hit my house with it last week and my dad nearly rolled it over on a hill today. Now it won't back up and it has to forward speeds fast and barley moving and it may decide to go fast by its self. I'm thinking possibly this could be an adjustment problem? But not sure and wanted to get some other ideas and opinions

Sounds like the damper spring needs replaced.
On the left side of tractor as you are sitting on the seat, betwixt the transmission and frame there is a plate that has what looks like a Chevrolet emblem, you know what some people call a bow-tie.
Inside of that is a spring that is called a damper spring, there is a spring inside of another spring.
Or the friction disc might need tightened up a little. That is the disc that puts resistance on moving the speed control.
You can google the parts diagram and see vhat I'm referring to.
