Red Cub Cadets

The red CC's were sold by IH's agricultural tractor dealers exclusively. The white/yellow CC's were sold by the garden tractor dealer network. This duality of the CC line took place in 1981 at a time when IH was bleeding red ink very badly. They sold the rights to the Cub Cadet line to MTD, who had built a brand new plant the year before. MTD made both lines of tractors which were nearly identical except for the paint and model numbers. Horsepower ratings were in the usual 10, 12, 14, 16 range because that is what the engine producers had to offer. There were a few diesel powered models as well. Click on the link below for photos.

To add to what Butch posted

182 through 382 were Lawn Tractors.

There was a 482 with 11 HP that was first in line as a Garden Tractor.
and the all so popular - 782 with a 17 HP Kohler.

After MTD/CCC bought the line there was a 1282 that was introduced with a 12HP Kohler.

The red paint went from 1979 to 1984.
