I Posted this on the the IH forum above but thought I'd post it here too.
We got our 72 out of some rough storage today and cleaned it up. Still has a few cosmetic issues though.
It has the optional rear lift. We have several wagons for it as well at a Brinly plow and a non-Brinly cultivator as well as the original mower.

We also have a dilapidated Cub Original in storage that has the optional rear PTO.

Nice looking tractor.

I have a CC 72 complete with 3 point hitch and creeper gear. I'm the 2nd owner. I wanted more horse power and put a Kholer 301 (12 hp) engine in the 72 frame.

Thank you for the reply. The engine I got with the cub original was physically too big. I think a 12 or 14HP. It would be neat to find one that will fit the frame and hood dimensions.

10 and 12 horse (K241 and K301) will fit in the narrow frame tractors but you have to have the right spec#, meaning it can't have the integral alternator and Bosch starter, those engines have a larger diameter flywheel and shroud and don't fit. The Cub Cadet spec engines have a smaller bearing plate, flywheel and shroud and a shallower oil pan so they fit but you have to use the Starter/Generator on them. I have what I think was a 70 (might be a 100) that has a K301 in it, I jokingly call it a 120. If I ever decide to restore it I think I'll have some 120 decals made just to mess with people. Kinda of a Jr. version of a Super HTA!

I also have a CC 70 with a Kohler 301 engine. The PO had this installed. The only thing you have to do is drill a hole in the frame at the points cover bottom in order to change points, set timing, etc.

That's all you have to do.
