K301 Kohler Engine

I'm rebuilding a k301 engine. My doner block needs spacers to go behind the balancer gears. My original block had a machined boss in the block. Where can I find a part number for the spacers or does anybody have a parts unit with some available. I found a sight on line once that had all the kohler parts books but I can't locate it now.

You can just leave the balance gears out, they don't shake much more. Most people do because the gears need to be perfect and are hard to find in that condition.

Do not install old balancer gears. Toss them out or buy new ones. Your choice. Old gears can break and when that happens, kiss your rebuilt engine bye-bye.

I agree with leaving the gears out but they do shake noticeably more vibration. Had one comeback as unacceptable so I now add the counter balance weight from Kirk Engines and they run far smoother than OEM

The gears I'm going to use came out of a fairly low hour engine. I say low hour because the cyinder was only worn to the outer limits of the specs to run standard piston and rings. It cleaned right up bored .010 over. I have replaced the bearings in the balencers also. I might add that after I got that block bored there were some configuration problems with how the base attatched for my aplication so in the end I will have one engine built out of three.
