Carb issue on BS

Need all the help I can get. B&S 12.5 hp, on MTD. Engine model 289707, Type 015401, Code 9403314A
Motor runs well if you prime it. Carb was full of dry gunk from sitting 4 years. Got it all cleaned except needle valve that the float operates. End broke off and needle valve is stuck in place. Is there anything to get it out? Or am I looking at a whole new carb? Can't afford to just throw money at this one to make it run.
 
no anybody that has a ultrasonic parts cleaner that would probably break it loose otherwise give me the numbers off carb and i probably have used one. have several used carbs i use a cleaner like i mentioned earlier and it worked on one i had same issue with.
 
A good guess would find your local mower scrounge repair guy. The one with a boat load of busted machines out back. Shouldn't cost too much. Once those little carbs get screwed up you are really looking for trouble. A lot of Briggs engines have NIKI carbs. When they work they are great! When they are messed up FORGET IT. You should be able to pick up a used one.
 
If the needle valve is stuck in there that badly, you need another carburetor. If you go with a used one, keep in mind that there is a reason it is available and you are probably buying someone else's problem and will probably have to clean it up in order for it to work.
