john deere 318 pto not working

I have a 318 the pto will not engage with the switch, if you unhook the blue wire down by the oil filter that runs to the pto it will kill the motor. If you run a hot wire to that connecttion the pto will kick in gear but it will kill the motor. I have cleaned up all the connections dont know if its the switch thats bad, maybe i have a short some place, it just dont make sense.hopefully someone can help, thanks

There are two safety switches and the related wiring that have to be in good shape for the engine to run with the PTO turned on. The PTO switch is two switches, so check the connector and the back of the switch for burned and/or missing wires. The seat safety switch has to work also. You have to be sitting in the seat to turn the PTO on with the engine running. More information and wiring diagrams are available at the weekend freedom machines website.

i have checked all the safety switches and they all work. where do i go from here? the delay box does make a click when i flip the pto switch it just doesnt come on. the ohms read good on the pto so thats good. it will kick in if i jump it with a hot wire from the battery directly to the wire coming off the pto. could it be the delay box, or how about the pto switch itself, any ideaswould help, thanks
