CC 1042 help

Got a cruddy mtd cub cadet 1042 I need to limp for a coupe months yet. The biggest problem is the reverse. Forward it moves fine and fast, reverse and I'm being passes by snails. Any ideas? Thanks

Is that one hydrostatic or gear drive?

I am assuming hydro.

1. check for broken transmission mounts, especially the front one(s)

2. If it has the rocking pedal like most late CC hydros have, check if you can change the length of the rod from the pedal giving more stroke in reverse. I think you have to shorten the rod. And you will probably give up some forward speed doing this.

It is a hydro and I can bury the rocker pedal to reverse. I think you are right about some adjustments though.
